The hillside where the poppies bloom

In the early 1960s, Japan, which had recovered from the heavy blow of World War II, was re-establishing its position in the eyes of the world at an extremely fast speed. Located in a seaport town in Yokohama, the four Matsuzaki brothers and their residents live an ordinary life. The 16-year-old sister Hai (voiced by Masami Nagasawa) takes care of everyone's food, clothing, and daily life. In the early morning, she routinely raises a signal flag to pray for safe navigation. By chance, Hai meets Toshi Kazama (voiced by Junichi Okada), a boy from the news department at the same school, adding a beautiful color to campus life. At the same time, the Tokyo Olympics are about to be held, and the ancient building "Latin Quarter" where Jun Neijun and a group of friends live is facing the fate of being demolished. In order to protect the holy place in their hearts, Jun, Hai and their colleagues unite. In the process, a certain secret feeling in their hearts quietly grew, but their unexpected fate stood in front of each other... This film is adapted from the comic of the same name published by Takahashi Chizuru and Sayama Tetsuro in the girls' magazine "Good Friends" from January to August 1980.
