Angel's Egg

The film is structured in a surreal world full of shadows and gray colors. The protagonists of the plot are two unnamed boys (voiced by Nezu Jinpachi) and a girl (voiced by Mako Hyodo). The girl carries a mysterious egg with her and spends a lot of time collecting various bottles and handicrafts in a Gothic dead city. A boy carrying a cross-shaped weapon also came to this town one day with a mysterious machine. At the same time, the figure of a giant coelacanth appeared above the town, and people in the city came to life in groups and began to hunt these fish with spears. In the girl's cave-like bottle, like a shelter, there are collected items. The boy waited for the girl to fall asleep and then broke the mysterious egg. The girl acted angry and followed the boy who had left. In the end, the girl sank into the valley and died, and the bubbles from her mouth turned into eggs. The film was a collaboration between Japanese director Mamoru Oshii and famous illustrator Yoshitaka Amano. It was released by Tokuma Shoten in 1985 and republished on DVD in 2007. The film is narrated by Keiichi Noda.
