Metropolis 2001

In the metropolitan city of Metapolis, the super skyscraper known as the symbol of progress of this era is holding an inauguration ceremony. Mr. RED (voiced by Taro Ishida), who holds the real power in the city, is giving a speech on the stage. Under the stage, a young man in black, ROCK (voiced by Hiroki Okada), openly draws his gun and kills people under heavy security. The crowd burst into commotion. Japanese detective Banshunsaku, who witnessed the incident, and his nephew Kenichi (voiced by Gui Xiaolin) began to investigate the city's murder. However, ROCK was found to have only shot the robot, and the murderer left as if nothing had happened. Metropolis is an urban system with a dual structure composed of an advanced above-ground part and a decadent underground part. Among the humans living in this city, there are people who have benefited from the highly developed robot world and enjoy the superiority of civilization and technology. There are also people who have had their jobs taken away by robots and cannot make a living. There are also mass groups who demand that robots also enjoy human rights and freedoms. As the investigation deepens, the truth of the implementation gradually emerges. Will robots and humans ultimately live together as equals, or will they be destroyed together? This film is adapted from the comic of the same name published by Osamu Tezuka in 1949.
