A Tale of Two Cities

The play consists of two heroines: Li Niannian, who grew up in a family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners in Taiwan, faced bottlenecks at work and had problems in love. In order to change the status quo, she decided to go to the United States to pursue her fiancé; Jo, a computer engineer who grew up in San Francisco, had a boyfriend who was already talking about marriage. She seemed to have a smooth life, but she had the idea of ​​escaping from her current life and decided to return to the unfamiliar Taipei to find the hometown in her father's memory. Two girls met by chance in Taipei. One drunken night, they decided to exchange homes for three months and start a different life. Two girls choose to leave the place where they grew up and go to a strange city. One pursues love and the other escapes love. Each performs a different version of the story of two cities. Li Niannian, who came to San Francisco from Taipei, had lived under the wings of her parents since she was a child, but when she arrived in San Francisco, she had to start over by herself. After finding a job and overcoming the daily necessities of life, she and her fiancé were unable to save their relationship in the end. However, she met a group of friends who shared weal and woe: Mrs. Thomason, the landlord with an eccentric personality who claimed to have developed a career in Hollywood, Professor Qian, a traditional Chinese medicine doctor from Beijing, Wendy, a fast-talking Chinese female tenant, and her new romantic partner, the famous Asian chef Ryan.
