Shen Xingchen (played by Liu Dong), a girl born in the 1980s, had an unfortunate family since she was a child. Her mother eloped and her father died in a car accident. She stayed at her uncle's house since she was a child. Mingyuan (played by Huang Ming), a boy born in the 1980s, was a neighbor of Shen Xingchen's family when he was a child. Mingyuan's parents secretly engaged in smuggling. Mingyuan's father took everything and went to jail. After learning that Mingyuan's mother had followed someone else, she committed suicide in prison, which severely damaged Mingyuan's heart. A few years later, Shen Xingchen and Ming Yuan were placed in the same class when they entered high school, and their childhood friendship underwent subtle changes. However, the misfortune of their respective families caused the two to bear huge psychological trauma. They longed to be loved but did not know how to love others. This film is adapted from the online novel "Forever" and was nominated for the Tokyo International Film Festival Grand Prize. Director Li Fangfang wrote the youth novel "Don't Cry at Seventeen" when she was 16 years old. The TV series of the same name aroused enthusiasm among middle school students across the country.
