Dresden in January 1945. The future of young female nurse Anna Maute (played by Felicitas Wall) seems in order. She and assistant physician Alexander Wenninger (played by Benjamin Sadler) are about to get engaged. However, in the chaos of the big city on the front line of the war, Anna encounters a taciturn but charming foreigner-Robert Newman (played by John Wright).
