Bassist Christopher (Henry Fonda) and his wife Rose (Vera Miles) live a peaceful life. Although the economy is not well-off, a happy marriage and lovely children make Christopher feel that he has no regrets in life. Rose needs a sum of money to treat a toothache. Christopher, who is cash-strapped, decides to take out a loan. But when he comes to the bank with the receipt, fate plays a huge joke on him. The unknown Christopher was arrested by the police for robbing a bank. As the investigation deepened, more accusations against him surfaced. Although he had no knowledge of these accusations, Christopher was speechless in the face of conclusive evidence and witnesses. After being released on bail, Christopher and Rose commissioned lawyers to begin investigating the ins and outs of the entire incident. All the clues that could be found were unfavorable to Christopher. Just when the couple began to despair, things took a turn for the better.
