Jo (Joaquin Phoenix) ) has a very tragic past. His father is a violent maniac who always punches Joe and his mother (Judith Roberts) for no reason. Today, Joe and his mother live a life of dependence. After serving in the military, he became an FBI agent and then began to work as a killer. The "agent" John (John Doman) takes care of all aspects of Joe's work. One day, a state senator found Joe and hoped that he could save his daughter Nina (Ekaterina Samsonov). At first, Joe only regarded it as an ordinary task, but as time passed, Joe gradually discovered something fishy in it and began to doubt the real motives of the state senator.
