Howe (Aaron Eckhart) ) and Becca (Nicole Kidman) originally lived a leisurely and happy middle-class life. The couple was loving and their son Danny was well-behaved and smart. However, a car accident claimed Danny's life and completely destroyed the lives of the Hoveys. From then on, Beka locked herself in her home. Although she tried various methods to resolve the grief in her heart, she could not erase her son from her memory for a long time; Hovey tried to pretend that nothing had happened, but the relationship with his wife became increasingly tense and quarreled. Beca accidentally met the high school boy who caused her son's death, and she began to consciously get closer to him. The restless and lonely Hovey seems to be looking for a spiritual harbor...
