The Duchess

This film is adapted from the biography "Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire" by British writer Amanda Forman. At the end of the 18th century, the young and beautiful Georgiana Cavendish (Keira Knightley) was ordered by her mother to marry the fifth Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes), who was nine years older than her. Georgiana's cleverness, fun, and sense of fashion made her the eye-catching center of the London aristocracy, but she was unable to touch the heart of her unfaithful husband. The Duke of Devonshire was dissatisfied with Georgiana for not bringing him a son, and openly had an affair with her best friend, Lady Elizabeth (Harley Atwell). The angry Georgiana fell into the arms of Charles Gray (prime minister of Britain from 1830 to 1834) (Dominic Cooper), a new member of the Greyhound Party, but their relationship was not allowed by the Duke of Devonshire... The film won the Oscar and BAFTA Best Costume Design Award, and was nominated for the Oscar for Best Art Direction, the BAFTA for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor (Ralph Fiennes).
