Cold Mountain

During the American Civil War, soldier Inman (played by Jude Law) was disheartened by successive battles and the defeat of the southern army. In order to see his lover Ada (played by Nicole Kidman), he left the army and embarked on the long journey home. In his hometown, the remote town of Cold Mountain, Ada also suffered from the torture of life and the pain of waiting.
