Hideyoshi finally issued an order, ordering Rikyu to withdraw from Kyoto and confine him in the large courtyard. Toyotomi Hideyoshi's wife Hokusei wrote a letter to Rikyu's wife Toki, saying that if Rikyu was willing to admit his mistake, she would go and beg Hideyoshi to forgive Rikyu. However, Limu's reply only solemnly expressed his gratitude and said nothing else. Toyotomi Hideyoshi became even more angry when he saw this letter and ordered Rikyu to have a caesarean section to apologize.
