Weston (played by Johnny Depp)'s ex-wife passed away. With their young daughter Lynne (played by Courtney Chase), the grieving father and daughter went to Los Angeles to prepare for his ex-wife's funeral. What Weston didn't expect was that he and his daughter were kidnapped as soon as they arrived at their destination. The man and woman who kidnapped them were named Smith (Christopher Walken) and Jones (Roma Maffia). The kidnapper told Weston that within the seventy-minute time limit, Weston must kill California Governor Grant (Marsha Mason), otherwise, his daughter's life will be risked. With the innocent governor on one side and his beloved daughter on the other, what choice will Weston make?
