At this time, the situation suddenly changed. The enemy thought that our army was defeated and gathered 300,000 troops to surround our army from three sides, intending to fight decisively. Our army blocked the enemy at Dasha River in front of Taocun for six days and nights, and then moved to Fenghuang Mountain to encircle and annihilate seven divisions of the enemy Army Commander Li who had been besieged by our army in Fenghuang Mountain. Battalion Commander Gao was ordered to snipe the enemy Commander Zhang's troops who came for reinforcements at Motian Ridge. After the Battle of Phoenix Mountain, Battalion Commander Gao was ordered to serve as the vanguard to annihilate and reinforce the enemy. The enemy retreated to the south of the Dasha River and resisted stubbornly. Battalion Commander Gao took a small road and sneaked across the Dasha River, cutting off the enemy's retreat. The enemy wants to blow up the dam on the upper reaches of Dasha River and use water to stop our army. Zhao Yumin led the guerrillas to cut the explosive fuse on the dam and preserved the dam. Our army crossed the Dasha River and annihilated the enemy. The enemy commander Zhang and his chief of staff were both captured alive.
