Lullaby of the Earth

A Ling (played by Mieko Harada) was born in a poor family. The tight life created her strong character. Her parents are gone, and A Ling and her grandmother live a life of dependence on each other. When A Ling was thirteen years old, her grandmother passed away. The helpless A Ling became an orphan and was half-coaxed and sold to a brothel on a small island in the Seto Inland Sea. At first, because A-Ling was too young to take on customers, she was always assigned to do some chores and cleaning jobs. Although A-Ling was very smart and diligent, she was often beaten and scolded by her irritable boss. Whenever she felt extremely painful, A Ling would come to the beach and sing loudly. One day, her singing attracted the attention of a young man, and a faint feeling developed between the two young people.
