Walt (played by Tom Hanks) is a producer, because his daughter Lillian (Dendrie Taylor) Taylor) is particularly fond of a novel called "Mary Poppins". Walt promised Lillian that he would put the wonderful stories in this novel on the screen so that more people can appreciate the joy and beauty in it. In order to purchase the copyright of the novel, Walt found the original author of the novel, Travers (Emma Thompson).
