The Great Road

Twenty years ago, Jin Ge's family of three escaped from a famine-stricken village, and his mother left him with the belief of "finding a way forward". Twenty years later, Jin Ge (played by Jin Yan) grew up into a young man who was optimistic by nature and not afraid of hardships. He worked in the city and met five young people - the strong Lao Zhang (played by Zhang Yi), the smart Zheng Jun (played by Zheng Junli), the clumsy Zhang Da, the ambitious Xiao Luo (played by Luo Peng), and the weird Han Xiaoliuzi (played by Han Langen). Because they were bullied and exploited, the six people decided to find another way to build an important military road. In a restaurant at the entrance of the village, they met two beautiful women-Ding Xiang (played by Chen Yanyan) and Jasmine (played by Li Lili), and several young men and women gradually formed a deep friendship. As the military situation becomes increasingly tense and Japanese imperialism steps up its aggression against China, Jin Ge calls on everyone to step up road construction to help the army fight against the enemy. On the other hand, the enemy bribed the traitors to stop building roads. As a result, Brother Jin and the other six people were invited to go to Assistant Hu. Mr. Hu threatened Brother Jin and others, either accepting foreign money to stop building the road, or being whipped and waiting to die...
