The elephant sits on the ground

There is an elephant in Manzhouli Zoo, sitting there every day. The boy who stood up for his friend, the bully brother who avenged his brother, and the girl behind bars were stuck in the dark gaps of the world and couldn't escape, but they struggled to see the elephant. On a bleak winter day, desperate figures collided in the asymmetrical and unbalanced images, bursting the oppressive depression and spreading wantonly in the low-cost production with rough scenery and hazy lighting. The first film by author and director Hu Bo (pseudonym Hu Qian), with its youthful simplicity and shocking sensibility, was recognized by the Berlin Film Festival and shortlisted for the forum section, but it is a missing piece of the puzzle that cannot fit into the harmonious theme. Not being able to see elephants is a common fate, and Hu Bo's sudden death has become a regret for this generation.
