Goodbye in Heaven

"Goodbye" directed and starred by French actor Alberto Ponty, who is both an actor and a director, is adapted from the novel of the same name by the master of crime novels Pierre Maitre. It tells the story of two soldiers who were brutally punished for witnessing a crime committed by their commander. Unexpectedly, after they retired, their commander became prosperous, but they themselves were penniless. In order to prevent the villain from succeeding, they decided to seek justice for themselves. The film brilliantly depicts French society after the First World War, from the muddy battlefields filled with blood and flesh to the gorgeous parties of lavish entertainment, but even the gorgeous masks cannot hide the pain of life behind them.
