The Last of Us

On October 13, 1972, a plane carrying a Uruguayan rugby team going to Chile for a game crashed in the Andes Mountains. The more than 20 survivors faced the freezing and snowy living environment and tried their best to get out of this desolate place of death alive. After waiting full of hope for the rescue team to no avail, in despair they could only face the cruel facts. The food they relied on for survival was dwindling, the altitude was cold and harsh, they encountered several avalanches and they were filled with a huge fear of death. After heated discussions and inner struggles, they began to try something impossible, eating dead bodies. Finally, more than fifty days after the plane crashed, the weather gradually warmed up, and the rescue team finally found them. The sixteen people who survived finally walked out of this place of death and were reunited with their families again. The disaster survival film "The Last Day" directed by American director Frank Marshall is adapted from real events in the reportage "Alive: Stories of Andean Survivors" by British writer Piers Paul Reed. The film's realistic depiction of human nature's desire for survival once inspired intense discussions and debates about life and morality in American society.
