The film mainly tells the story of a northern town in the 1990s. Wang Fang, a sanitation worker who lost her fiancé, met a baby girl. She decided to adopt the child, but was strongly opposed by her parents. The determined Wang Fang ignored her parents' feelings and chose to run away from home.
