Mark (Brad Renfro) ) is an 11-year-old boy. One day, he witnessed the entire process of a man's suicide. Before his death, the man told Mark a shocking secret. The frightened Mark immediately accepted the police interrogation, but he chose to remain silent about the secret that could not be told. But even so, Mark was targeted by federal prosecutor Fordrig (Tommy Lee Jones), who secretly colluded with the Mafia, and the latter filed a complaint against Mark. Mark hired a shrewd female lawyer Love (Susan Sarandon) to defend him. With the joint efforts of the two, they uncovered Fordrig's conspiracy and obtained evidence. But Fordrig did not give up, but secretly launched a more despicable attack on Mark. The fate of Mark's whole family is in Love's hands. Faced with overwhelming power, can Love win the final victory?
