Tears of the Lone Star

Jean Valjean (Liam Neeson) faced twenty years in prison for stealing bread. After being released by Sheriff Javert (Geoffrey Rush), his identity as a prisoner made him run into obstacles everywhere. Desperate, Jean Valjean is taken in by a kind bishop (Peter Vaughan). Valjean stole the bishop's silverware and attempted to abscond. After being arrested, the bishop lied that the silverware was a gift from himself to Valjean. The bishop's move completely influenced Jean Valjean, and he decided to change his mind and live a good life. Ten years later, Jean Valjean became the mayor of the town incognito and met the tragic female worker Fantine (played by Uma Thurman). Jean Valjean promised Fantine, who was dying soon, that he would take care of her young daughter Cosette (Claire Danes). At the same time, Javert, who had been tracking Jean Valjean's traces, also discovered the true identity of the mayor.
