Angela's Ashes

Due to religious issues, the marriage of Angela (played by Emily Watson) and her husband was not approved by relatives and friends. Now they have several children, but their life in the United States is not satisfactory. Suffering from poverty and the recent loss of a child, the family decided to move back to their hometown of Ireland in order to pray for a richer life there. Things did not go as smoothly as they imagined. In their hometown, they still encountered cold eyes from relatives and friends, and began a difficult new life. Whenever her husband did not have the courage to do some trivial work and shoulder the burden of the family, it was Angela who took on all the dirty, tiring and menial work without hesitation. Fate dealt blows to this strong mother again and again. Her twin children died one after another, and her husband went to England to make a living but failed to improve the poor family situation. Angela never gave up seeking help and taught her son Frank (played by Joe Breen) the dignity of existence. The glory of her mother will not fade in Frank's life.
