Natalie (Isabelle Huppert) is a philosophy teacher, and her husband Hans (André Marcon) ) have been married for decades. The two raised two children together and lived a peaceful and happy life. One day, Hans suddenly confessed to Natalie that he had a lover outside. Not only that, he also planned to move out of the house and live with his lover. Although Natalie pretended to be calm on the surface, she suffered a strong blow in her heart. Natalie's mother (played by Edith Scob) was once a popular model, but now she suffers from depression and has made repeated suicide attempts. In desperation, Natalie had to go against her mother's wishes and send her to a nursing home. At the same time, Natalie follows the advice of her former student Fabian (Roman Kolinka) and heads to the commune established by Fabian and his friends in the mountains.
