During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, the imperial court ordered the Murong family, who had been married for generations, to form an organization to deal with matters between rivers, lakes and temples. The organization recruited martial arts masters with special skills, including Shaolin, Wudang and other wealthy families. Because the Yamen where the organization was located had two gates on the east, south and west sides, a total of six gates, it was called the "Six Gates". This film interweaves the two main lines of the growth of four young men, Joffe, Lu Qingfeng, Huo Jinyan, and Chen Siyao, and the chivalry and righteousness.
