Young Hou Debang

tells the story of Hou Debang's growth as a boy in his hometown of Minhou County, Fujian Province. As a boy, Hou Debang worked half-farm and half-study. He was diligent and studious, and was known as a "trailer student." With the encouragement of his grandfather, he entered the foreign school run by Thirteenth Aunt and began to be exposed to advanced Western cultural ideas. When he was a teenager, he saw foreigners using "opium" to harm the bodies and minds of compatriots. Together with his partners Liu Wangli, Xiaoshuang, Shi Sangu, and Yan Daxian, he exposed the evil deeds of foreigners and tried to find drugs to treat malaria. When he witnessed foreigners bullying Chinese people, Hou Debang gradually embarked on the road of saving the country through science and technology. Many people witnessed his growth along the way.
