This film truly tells the personal experience of Cui Shoujie. Cui Shoujie was born in a remote rural area with a poor family. Generations of his ancestors have made a living by farming and have never seen the outside world. By chance, he met Chen Jinjin, a pen pal in a big city. Chen Jinjin told him that the city was very beautiful. Cui Shoujie did not want to live a cyclical life in the mountains of getting married and having children again, and wanted to venture into the outside world. Cui Shoujie, who graduated from junior high school in 1998, received an admission notice from an art school in Dalian. Immediately, the whole village exploded with discussions. Because of the high tuition fees, most people were unanimously opposed. After repeated family meetings, the parents sold off the family's livestock and grain to collect most of the tuition fees. The father and son boarded the train to the city where their dreams came true. After the father and son arrived at school, due to insufficient tuition fees, he could not successfully enter the school, so his father accompanied him to work part-time in the local area. Cui Shojie worked as a waiter in a restaurant, and his father worked as a laborer at a construction site. By chance, his father knew that he could get a lot of money by donating blood for others.
