Annunciation

Although his wife longs for a child, the young husband hopes to use her belly to give birth to the offspring of his ex-fiancée who died of cancer through embryo transfer. Focusing on the personal, legal and moral dilemmas faced by the heroine in marital crisis, the film on the one hand discusses the special social environment that restricts motherhood through the ethical scale of reproductive science and technology, and also openly expresses doubts about whether the biological connection between mother and child is a necessary prerequisite for the concept of "maternal love". The short film was shortlisted for the 2017 Student Academy Award for Best Foreign Feature Film and is Turkish director Harit Izzy’s second short film at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts (KHM).
