Reaching for the Stars

The rich girl Terry Lando (played by Katharine Hepburn) comes from a wealthy family and has a noble status. However, Lando, who has a stubborn personality, does not want to rely on family connections to get on the Broadway stage. Lando, who is full of dreams and ambitions, lives in a dramatic club. Lando thus met her roommate Jane Maitland (Ginger Rogers), a bombastic actress. Facing the cruel competition, Lando gradually discovered that she was different from others. She acted just out of love, while others did it for survival. Lando's father decided to secretly help his daughter's career, but he never thought that his secret help would cause greater harm to his daughter. The film won 4 nominations for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director and Best Screenplay at the 10th Academy Awards in 1938.
