Goodson (Jack Lemmon) and Max (Walter Matthau) have been friends since childhood. Although both have entered their seventies, their friendship has not changed at all. One day, a woman named Ariel (Ann Margret) becomes their neighbor. The beautiful and elegant Ariel soon attracts the attention of Goodson and Max, who are both fascinated by Ariel.
