Sunset Strip

The has-been actor Norma (played by Gloria Swanson) is nearly 50 years old. The once gorgeous woman is slowly withering away in the abandoned mansion where she lives. She is only served by her friend Max (Erich von Stroheim). She has not given up her dream of rekindling her glory. The script of "Salome" is about to be written, and Joe (William Holden), a declining screenwriter who fled here to escape debt, is the best candidate for this career. Norma took him in, provided him with a comfortable environment to write, and slowly fell in love with him. However, Joe cannot accept this woman whose youth has passed away. He rejected her and turned around to plan a new plot with another beautiful woman. They fell in love and had a passionate fight. Norma learned of Joe's "betrayal", and she humbly begged him, but could not shake his drifting away heart. Norma finally raised her gun and pointed it at Joe who was about to leave.
