Sunday Domingo

Domingo, an unemployed uncle, decided to pursue his dream of being a football commentator when he was young, and to win back his wife who had run away from home. This film is the feature film debut of Mexican director Raul Lopez Echeverría, based on his 2015 award-winning short film of the same name. It was inspired by his observations of a working-class community on the outskirts of Guadalajara and the profound impact of football on the community. The film uses a moderately exaggerated comedy technique to tell a heartwarming story about a middle-aged uncle pursuing his dream. The director did not deliberately describe the poor living conditions of the people at the bottom, but showed their optimism in the face of difficulties through passionate football commentary.
