Rural teacher Platonov and his wife live a simple and ordinary life. At a party, he met his first love Sofia, whom he had not seen for many years, which brought back fond memories of the past. In order to make up for his failure in his career and to pursue the sweet relationship in the past, Pladonov began to date Sofia behind his family's back. Later, he proposed to elope and let Sofia fly away with him, but Sofia refused. Platonov finally understood that Sofia could no longer leave the luxurious life that belonged to her. This extramarital affair was just a kind of excitement that this woman was looking for. In despair and shame, Platonov committed suicide by jumping into the river, only to find that fate had played a trick on him again, and the river water could only shallowly cover his knees.
