Can't Dream

During the Republic of China, Yu Chengye, a wealthy son of Shanghai Beach, was poisoned and died in his new house on his wedding night. Involved in the case are a pair of biological sisters, Meng Xiaomeng and Meng Xiaolu. Meng Xiaomeng (played by Yang Ziting) and Meng Xiaolu (played by Sun Wenting) lost their parents when they were young. They lived on the streets and were taken in as maids by a wealthy businessman from the Zhu family. However, the Zhu family father and son had evil intentions and took the opportunity to humiliate Meng Xiaomeng. Meng Xiaomeng hated men deeply and began to have unethical feelings for her sister Xiaolu. Zhu's father and son attacked Xiaolu, Xiaomeng stabbed the two of them, fled with Xiaolu, and got separated. A few years later, Meng Xiaomeng changed her name to Bai Meng and became a famous singer. Then she met Meng Xiaolu who was about to get married. Her special feelings for her sister made her distrust her sister's fiancé Yu Chengye, so she decided to use herself as a bait to let her sister know that there are no good men in the world. She succeeded but failed. Yu Chengye fell in love, and Meng Xiaomeng also fell in love with Yu Chengye. The two could not be together. On the night of their wedding, Yu Chengye and Xiao Lu committed suicide in order to prove their love. The entangled relationship between the three ended in tragedy.
