Balloon 2018

The story takes place in 1979 during the Cold War. Gunter (David Kross) and Peter (Friedrich Mücke) were under the iron-fisted regime of the East German rulers. Although their movements were restricted, the two did not give up their pursuit of freedom. They used up to two years to plan a shocking escape. The two used all the resources at hand to build a huge hot air balloon. They planned to use the simplest and most direct way to lead their family to escape to West Germany. However, just as the group was about to cross the border, the hot air balloon crashed due to an accident. At the same time, their actions also attracted the attention of the secret police, and a hunt for them quickly began. While avoiding the pursuers, Gunter and Peter also tried to find ways to make a new hot air balloon. A race against time began.
