Frankie, My Love

Frankie (played by Jack McEl) moved to Scotland with her mother Liz (played by Emily Mortimer) and her grandmother. He is a nine-year-old deaf child, smart and sensible, full of expectations for his father. He often wrote letters to his father, a sailor, and hung up the nautical charts of his father's ship. But he didn't know that everything was a white lie by his mother, who made up everything about his father. In fact, they moved around just to get away from his father's cruel domestic violence. And every "father's reply" was written by Liz, just to avoid making her son sad. Frankie learned that his father's ship was about to dock and wanted to see his father. Liz didn't expect such a ship to exist and couldn't bear to tell her son all the truth, so she had to find a strange man (Gerard Butler) to pretend to be her father with the help of her friends. The lovely Frankie liked him very much. The three of them got along happily, and just as the "husband" was about to leave, Liz told him that Frankie's deafness was due to the violence of the real husband. And there seems to be a vague feeling between them. Liz refuses her dying husband David's request to see her son, and soon she tells Frankie that her father is dead.
