French Cancan

Henry (Jean Gabin) runs a nightclub and performs some obscene and gaudy performances. Laura (María Félix), who is good at belly dancing, is a pillar-like existence. The sluggish economy and Henry's poor management soon brought the nightclub to the brink of bankruptcy. At this juncture, Henry met the ordinary laundrywoman Nini (Françoise Arnoul). In Nini, Henry saw extraordinary talent and created the "cancan dance", an unprecedented dance form. With the cancan dance, Henry's nightclub became prosperous again, but the accumulated conflicts between Laura and Nini completely broke out on the opening day. Later, a prince fell in love with Nini and planned to invest in the nightclub, but the jealous Laura ruined the business.
