The Prince of Tides

Tom (Nick Nolte) is a typical American southern youth. His unbearable childhood experiences in his early years made him grow into a taciturn and cynical man, who is incompatible with this world of hypocrisy and coercion. The news of his brother's death plunged Tom's already chaotic life into more complete decadence. The relationship between him and his wife Sally (Blythe Danner) also encountered a huge crisis. Tom has a girl named Savannah (played by Melinda Dillon) who is struggling alone in New York. However, the news of her fame did not come, but the bad news that Savannah attempted suicide and was admitted to a mental hospital. Susan (Barbra Streisand) is Savannah's chief physician. She discovers that the secret to healing her is hidden in Susan's never-talked-about past. So Susan found Tom, hoping that he could help her.
