Yeonsangun

When Yeonsangun ascended the throne as emperor, he wanted to pursue the title of Concubine Yin, the queen mother who was deposed by the previous king and sentenced to death, but he gave up after being blocked by hundreds of officials. Unable to restore Concubine Yin's identity, Lord Yanshan felt haunted by his mother's ghost day and night, so he became extremely irritable and neglected political affairs. Shin Sang-ok seemed disapproving of the fact that "Yonsangun" was rated as "Korea's Hamlet" by the West. He was also extremely dissatisfied with the fact that in order to catch up with the New Year's release date, he could only rush to complete a historical blockbuster in two months. Along with the sequel "The Tyrant of Yanshan" (1962) the following year, he once threatened to burn the film negatives of both films. Despite this, "Yansangjun" was well received that year and won the best film at the first Daejong Award (1962).
