The story takes place in Sichuan at the end of the 19th century. Zheng Mogu (Xu Qing), who was born in the countryside, married Cai Xingshun, the owner of a grocery store, and became the proprietress of the grocery store. Cai Xingshun has an honest and dull personality, and is very ignorant of amorous feelings, while Zheng Mogu has a beautiful appearance and has already attracted rumors as soon as she got married. Fortunately, Cai Xingshun has a highly respected cousin Luo Sheng (played by You Yong). Whenever someone wants to bully Zheng Mogu, Luo Sheng always steps in to resist him.
