The film is based on the real events of civil servants and people in Longnan, Gansu rebuilding their homes and Shenzhen counterpart assistance after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. It tells a touching story represented by the middle-aged woman Gan Lan, the secretary of the rural party branch in the disaster area, who led the villagers to rebuild their homes. The heroine of the film is based on a typical rural woman named Wu Xiumei. She told reporters that although the family only relied on the 1,000 yuan income from selling vegetables every month, they did not feel it was hard. "There is no difficulty. As long as our hands are still there, we have to find a way ourselves." Wu Xiumei said.
