White Fortress

Teenage Faruk and his friends make a living doing work for the mafia, until he meets a middle-class girl, Mona, and an adolescent romance begins. The film hovers between a thriller and a fairy tale, with dark reality and charming dreams intertwined. The rich oil painting-like lighting and soothing piano melody set off the confusion and sadness of the young people. Bosnian director Igor Dellia uses the shell of a romantic love story to show the social atmosphere of post-war Sarajevo and the living conditions of different classes. The film was shortlisted for the New Generation Youth Competition at the 2021 Berlin Film Festival.
