Million Pounds

This film was shot in 1953 and is adapted from Mark Twain's novel "A Million Pound Bill". Two brothers from a wealthy family took out a million pound note from the bank to verify the outcome of a poor man getting this huge note. The elder brother believed that this banknote was of no value to a poor man, and he would end up in poverty; while the younger brother believed that he would get out of trouble and live a prosperous life because of this banknote. In order to prove the correctness of their respective theories, the two brothers made a bet. They left this note to a poor American young man, Henry Adams (Gregory Peck), and traveled abroad, leaving Henry confused about the future. People tried their best to woo this rare rich man who suddenly became rich. From free meals, buying clothes, to free accommodation, they all tried to please him like beggars and constantly improved his social status. Not only that, this lucky young man also got a good wife and 30,000 pounds in bank interest, and lived a very happy life from then on.
