A highly decomposed body was discovered in an apartment in Katsushika District, Tokyo. After preliminary investigation by the police, the deceased was Michiko Oshitani from Shiga Prefecture, and her death was indeed a homicide. Detective Matsunomiya (Junpei Mizohata) of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Investigation Section 1 discovered that Oshitani was here to visit and watch a stage play by Hiromi Asai (Nanako Matsushima), a friend from his student days. Although Asai has a sufficient alibi, her photo with Kaga Kyouichiro (played by Hiroshi Abe) still attracted Matsugiya's attention.
