Carrying Dad to School

This film is adapted from a true story. Rural boy Shi Wa (Zhao Qiang) lost his mother at an early age and was dependent on his father (Jiang Hualin) and sister (Yan Danchen). When he was seven years old, his father, who was struggling with life, could no longer afford enough money for him and his sister to study at the same time. A copper spoon forced his excellent sister to drop out of school, and his father told Shi Wa to study hard. When Shi Wa was in junior high school, her sister got married early to save money for the family, and used part of the bride price from the husband to support his education. The sensible Shi Wa studied hard, won the first prize and third place in the National Chemistry Olympiad, and was admitted to the provincial normal school. However, her father unfortunately fell and was injured while working and was paralyzed in bed. In order to take good care of her father without delaying her studies, Shi Wa decided to carry her father to school.
