The Promise on the Grassland

In 1968, Hong Yan and Li Yuanchao fell in love regardless of the obstacles of family background. The two eloped and forged files to join the Construction Corps. After arriving at the border, Hongyan became pregnant and the whole incident was exposed. Five years later, there was a fire in Death Valley, and Hua'er's father died to save Hongyan's son Nian Chao. In 1977, when the educated youth returned to the city, Hong Yan left and asked Hua'er to adopt Nian Chao and change her name to Batu. In 2010, Li Yuanchao, who had become a wealthy businessman, was critically ill and hoped that his son would come back to inherit the property. Batu refused and continued to stay in the grassland to take care of Hua'er.
