Harrell (Max von Sydow) He is a writer who is cynical and dislikes many living habits of contemporary society. Unable to integrate into society, he often locks himself in his home. In the loneliness and darkness, Harrell's spirit is on the verge of collapse. One day, by chance, Harrell read a book called "Review of Steppenwolf". He was so enlightened by the content in the book that he felt that this book was tailor-made for him. By chance, Harrell met the bar girl Hermina, and under her introduction, he met the musician Pablo and the girl Maria (Dominique Sanda).
