The Shell Collector

Lily Franky challenged himself to play the role of a blind shellfish scholar, and co-starred in the Japanese-US collaboration film "Shell Collector" with a luxurious cast such as Shinobu Terashima, Soryo Ikematsu, and Ai Hashimoto. A scholar who became famous in the world of conchology, separated from his wife and children and lived a world-weary life on an outlying island in Okinawa. One day, the painter Itsumi drifted to the island. After Itsumi's rare disease was accidentally cured by shellfish poison, the scholar's life changed drastically. The director is Tsuboda Yoshihide, who has won many awards; the painter "Itsumi" who wanders to an outlying island and starts living with a scholar is played by Shinobu Terashima; the shellfish scholar's son "Hikari" is played by Soryo Ikematsu; and "Mako", the daughter of a powerful man on the island who suffers from the same rare disease as Izumi, is played by the young and powerful actress Ai Hashimoto.
