Seediq Bale (Part 1): Flag of the Sun

This film is adapted from the historical facts of the Wushe Incident. In 1895, after the Treaty of Shimonoseki ceded Taiwan, Japan immediately took over Taiwan by force, and various parts of the island were conquered one after another. However, due to the impassable roads in Taiwan's mountainous areas, the lives of the aborigines have not yet been affected. Among the Seediq people in the Wushe area, Mona Ludao (played by You Daqing), the younger generation of Mahpo, is extremely brave and leads his tribe to fight endlessly against the Ganzhuo people. The Japanese coveted the rich resources in the Wushe area and tried to get involved, but were met with strong resistance from the Seediqs and suffered heavy casualties. Then they finally invaded Wushe by taking advantage of the mutual vendetta between the indigenous groups. Mona Ludo had no choice but to humiliate and surrender, but the fire in his heart never went out. The time is pushed forward to 1930. Japan's "civilization transformation" of the Wushe aborigines took many years. The so-called civilization such as Japanese did not give the aborigines an equal life. The oppression and heavy labor of the Japanese eroded the tradition and dignity of the Seediq people. Years of accumulated anger finally erupted in this year!
